How we get to this rate

Where the fund is registered and what it does with its dividends decide the rate. Here is the path your ETF takes through the questions.

  1. Is the fund registered in the European Economic Area?Registered in the EEA? Yes

Its ISIN starts with IE, for Ireland, a country inside the EEA.

  2. Is the fund registered in Belgium?Registered in Belgium? No

It is not on the FSMA list under its own name.

  3. Is the fund's compartment registered in Belgium?Compartment registered? No

No compartment of SSGA SPDR ETFs Europe I Public Limited Company on the FSMA list matches it.

  4. Is the fund accumulating or distributing?Accumulating or distributing? Accumulating

An accumulating fund that is not registered in Belgium carries the 0.12% rate.

  5. 0.12% when you buy, 0.12% when you sell.

The answers come from the FSMA's own list of foreign funds registered in Belgium, dated 2 October 2026.

  1. Download the FSMA's list.
  2. In the column CIS DUTCH OFFICIAL NAME (column E), find the institution your ETF belongs to, for example Vanguard Funds.
  3. Among that institution's rows, find the name of the compartment in the column COMPARTMENT DUTCH OFFICIAL NAME (column X).
  4. If the compartment is there, it is registered in Belgium. If it is missing, or listed only under another institution, it is not.

The rules behind the rate

Our guide covers the law itself, and the declaration you have to file when your broker leaves the tax to you.

How this tool works

A fund's rate turns on where it is registered and on what it does with its dividends. We look the fund up by its ISIN in the register of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), find the compartment it belongs to, and check whether the FSMA lists that compartment under the fund's own umbrella. The dividend policy comes from the same ESMA register, and a person checks every fund where it is unclear. When we cannot vouch for a fund, we say so.
